Guinness World Records 2027 Competition Terms & Conditions

Promoter: Ken Black Toys & Nursery

These terms and conditions apply to the Guinness World Records 2027 Competition promoted by Ken Black Toys & Nursery (“Ken Black”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

1. Eligibility

1.1. The competition is open to residents of the Republic of Ireland aged 18 years or over, excluding employees of Ken Black Toys & Nursery, their immediate family members, and any other person professionally connected with the administration of this competition.

1.2. By entering the competition, entrants confirm that they are eligible to enter and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

1.3. No purchase is necessary to enter the competition.

2. Competition Period

2.1. The competition opens on 3 September 2026.

2.2. Entries must be received by 11:59pm on 9 September 2026.

2.3. Entries received after the closing date will not be eligible.

3. How to Enter

3.1. To enter, participants must:

Comment on the relevant Ken Black competition post on Facebook or Instagram with the Guinness World Record they would most like to break; and
State in their comment which Ken Black store they would like to collect their prize from.

3.2. The participating Ken Black stores are:

Portlaoise
Carlow
Kilkenny
Wexford
KB Toys & Gifts, Kennedy Avenue, Carlow

3.3. Only entries made through the designated Ken Black competition post on Facebook or Instagram will be accepted.

3.4. Entrants may enter on both Facebook and Instagram, but each person can win a maximum of one prize.

3.5. Multiple comments from the same person on the same platform will not increase their chances of winning. Ken Black reserves the right to disregard duplicate or excessive entries.

3.6. Entries must be made by the individual entering the competition. Entries made on another person's behalf or using automated, fraudulent or third-party entry services will not be accepted.

3.7. Entries that are offensive, defamatory, inappropriate, unlawful or otherwise unsuitable may be removed and will not be eligible for the competition.

4. Prizes

4.1. There are 10 prizes available to be won in total, with 2 prizes allocated to each of the five Ken Black stores.

4.2. Each prize consists of a Guinness World Records prize bundle containing:

One copy of Guinness World Records 2027;
Guinness World Records tote bag(s);
Guinness World Records hat(s); and
Guinness World Records medal(s).

4.3. The exact contents of each prize bundle are subject to the stock supplied to Ken Black by Guinness World Records.

4.4. Prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative or alternative prize available.

4.5. Prizes must be collected from the Ken Black store selected by the winner at the time of entry.

4.6. Prizes cannot be posted or delivered to winners.

5. Winner Selection

5.1. Following the closing date, two winners will be selected at random for each Ken Black store from all eligible entries that have selected that store as their preferred collection location.

5.2. This will result in 10 winners in total.

5.3. The random selection will be carried out by Ken Black Toys & Nursery.

5.4. Ken Black's decision regarding the selection of winners is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection process, except where required by law.

6. Winner Announcement and Notification

6.1. The winners will be selected and announced on 10 September 2026, the launch date of Guinness World Records 2027.

6.2. Winners will be contacted via the Facebook or Instagram account used to enter the competition.

6.3. Winners may be asked to confirm their name and other reasonable information necessary to arrange prize collection.

6.4. Ken Black will not request payment, bank details, passwords or other sensitive financial information from a winner in order to claim a prize.

6.5. If a selected winner does not respond to Ken Black within 7 days of the initial notification, Ken Black reserves the right to select an alternative winner for that store.

6.6. If a prize remains unclaimed after reasonable attempts have been made to contact the selected winner, Ken Black may award the prize to an alternative eligible entrant.

7. Prize Collection

7.1. Winners must collect their prize from the Ken Black store selected when entering the competition.

7.2. Winners will be given reasonable information regarding when and how their prize can be collected.

7.3. Winners may be required to provide suitable identification or other reasonable proof of identity when collecting their prize.

7.4. Prizes must be collected within 10 days of the winner being notified, unless otherwise agreed with Ken Black.

7.5. If a winner is unable to collect their prize within the stated period, they should contact Ken Black to discuss alternative arrangements. Ken Black reserves the right to reallocate prizes that remain unclaimed.

8. Publicity

8.1. By entering the competition, entrants acknowledge that Ken Black may announce the names or social media usernames of the winners on its social media channels and/or website.

8.2. Ken Black will not publish a winner's private contact details.

8.3. Any request by Ken Black to photograph or film a winner collecting their prize will be made separately and will require the winner's permission. Entering the competition does not, by itself, constitute permission for Ken Black to use a winner's photograph or likeness for promotional purposes.

9. Personal Data

9.1. Ken Black will process personal information provided by entrants only for purposes connected with administering the competition, including verifying entries, selecting and contacting winners and arranging prize collection.

9.2. Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and Ken Black's Privacy Policy.

9.3. Entering this competition does not automatically subscribe an entrant to Ken Black's email newsletter or other direct marketing communications.

9.4. Where Ken Black offers an entrant the opportunity to sign up to marketing communications, this will be presented separately from the competition entry and will be subject to the applicable consent requirements.

9.5. Ken Black will retain competition-related personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet any applicable legal or regulatory requirements.

10. Facebook and Instagram

10.1. This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook or Instagram.

10.2. By entering the competition, entrants agree that Facebook and Instagram shall have no liability in relation to the competition.

10.3. Entrants are providing their information to Ken Black Toys & Nursery and not to Facebook or Instagram.

11. General Conditions

11.1. Ken Black reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions or that Ken Black reasonably believes to be fraudulent, misleading, abusive or otherwise inappropriate.

11.2. Ken Black reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the competition where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary. Where reasonably possible, any such change will be communicated through Ken Black's social media channels.

11.3. Ken Black is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete, incorrectly submitted or unable to be received for technical or other reasons outside its reasonable control.

11.4. Ken Black accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury arising from participation in the competition or acceptance or use of a prize, except where such liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

11.5. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes any statutory rights that entrants may have as consumers.

11.6. These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland and any disputes relating to the competition will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

12. Full Terms

12.1. By entering the competition, entrants confirm that they have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

12.2. These Terms & Conditions will be available throughout the competition period.
